Meet Pax! I rescued Pax from an unfortunate situation. He had been abused and was brought to the animal shelter in rough condition and had to have his eye removed immediately. Not knowing how long he had been suffering, I wanted to adopt him the second I saw him. Long story short, he is now in a very happy home and all is good in the world!
When I was throwing around the idea of opening up my own gym, I wanted him to be involved in any way possible, hence the name SixPax!
Don’t let those dimples fool you, Christine "Freddy" Alfred is a force to be reckoned with. She is a degreed fitness professional who completed a B.S. in Exercise Science with an emphasis as a Health and Fitness Specialist. Christine has experience teaching group classes such as Spin, Cardio Kickboxing, Step, and Pilates. She also has worked as a Personal Trainer and Corporate Wellness Director.
In college she got an internship opportunity in San Diego working at a children’s weight loss camp. That’s where she decided her passion wasn’t just helping people get healthier, but changing their lives.
After managing a kickboxing gym for two years and her boss moving away and selling the franchise, she decided it was time to put her ideas and creativity to use. She used her one eyed rescue pup, Pax, as motivation to create SixPax Fitness.
SixPax was created on the idea that “Wherever you are in your journey, you are always welcome here.” Meaning, we welcome EVERYONE. We are a community, we are a family, we are a PACK.
SixPax was also created on the idea to give back. If Christine is given a platform, she’s going to use it to make the world a better place.
It all started when a friend invited Theresa Schmidt to a cardio-kickboxing class in the late 1990s. She had been taking traditional taekwondo classes for several months but wanted to get more of a workout and cardio-kickboxing fit the bill. She got certified as a Cardio Karate Kickboxing Instructor from NAPMA (National Association of Professional Martial Artists) in October of 1998, and has been teaching group fitness classes ever since. Early on as an athlete in grade school and throughout high school, she loved competition and team environments so the energy from group classes has helped fill that gap and keep fitness as a top priority in her adult life as well. She continued to get other national certifications over the next several years which have helped provide a well rounded variety of fitness classes she can provide, including Resist-A-Ball (Stability Ball) Certification – November 2004, R.I.P.P.E.D. Instructor certification, October 2011-Present and AFAA (Athletics and Fitness Association of America)– Group Fitness Certification, November 2011-Present, but teaching kickboxing is her absolute favorite. In addition, she absolutely loves to watch the evolution of how strong and fit her students become.
Hannah’s career in the fitness industry stems from a lifelong passion for athletics. She played collegiate field hockey at Bellarmine University, where she was a two-time captain of her team, and received many accolades including “Defensive Player of the Year” in 2012. During her senior year she was required to complete an internship, and chose to do so with a local personal trainer. She fell in love with training through that experience, and knew she wanted to pursue a career in PT. She graduated from Bellarmine in 2013 with a B.A. in Exercise Science, and immediately entered the workforce pursuing her two passions, fitness and field hockey. Since then, Hannah has coached varsity level field hockey, and worked in a handful of boutique gyms as a manager and a trainer. She loves building lifelong relationships with her clients and having a hand in changing their lives for the better!
Leslie has always had a love for exercise. Starting at the young age of 3 and continuing through college, she was involved in competitive dance. She has been married to her husband Derreck for 14 years, and they have 2 kids Quinton (12) and Sona (8).
Leslie has been a stay-at-home mom for 12 years and during that time, she knew she needed to get back to making exercise a priority-not only for her physical health, but more importantly for her mental health. She discovered dance fitness, which she grew to love. She earned her certification to teach Zumba in 2015, followed by U-Jam in 2016. She also dipped her toes into online fitness coaching but missed the in-person interactions she had when teaching. She knew
she needed to get back in the gym and had a mental shift almost immediately. She knew then that it was her purpose to show others that when you take time to take care of your body physically it will in turn help you live a less anxious, less depressed, and more fulfilling life.
